Big dreams are born in preschool! The NAEYC accredited preschool division of First Presbyterian Preparatory School offers an engaging curriculum focused on fostering social, emotional, academic, physical, and spiritual growth. Our program offers a range of developmentally-appropriate options spanning from a half-day class two times per week to five full days – all under the direction of two specially trained early childhood educators who work in tandem to create a loving and safe classroom environment.
Two to five year olds are divided into groups by developmental and chronological age where learning is at play every day through music, dramatic play, cooking, science, arts and crafts, chapel, circle and story time, academics, and more. Monthly themes include seasonal celebrations, character education, and activities to promote an appreciation and acceptance of the diverse world we live in.
Our full-day Kinder-Prep program offers a more structured program for four and five year olds who are ready to hone key “readiness” skills like letter-sound recognition, handwriting, increased attention span, and independent decision making. Both a three day and five day Kinder-Prep program are offered.
Our two separate park-like play areas are designed to specifically meet the needs of the children who use them. Both yards are equipped with swings, climbing equipment, balls, sandboxes, digging toys, shade areas, drinking fountains, and bathroom access. Additional areas provide access to bikes, outdoor art and carpentry.
First Presbyterian Preparatory School is proud of what we have to offer our community. We create an atmosphere for a “love of learning” and encourage our families to be involved in the school experience. If you have not yet had the opportunity to visit our campus, please call the school office for the best time to see our programs in action.

“Two By Two” is the toddler component of the preschool program at First Presbyterian Preparatory School. It offers little ones a safe and comfortable introduction to the world of learning and is for children aged 18-30 months and their parent (or adult caregiver). Each class meets one morning a week for 2 1/2 hours and is filled with creative teacher-designed experiences for parents and children to enjoy together.
Play includes art, books, blocks, housekeeping and dress-up, play dough, manipulatives, and toys. Puppets, fingerplays, storytelling, music and rhythmic movements provide opportunities for imaginative and artistic expression. Outdoor play is part of every session, weather permitting. Adults discuss topics of relevance to raising young children.
